How to use it
- Paste or type your text.
- Choose a voice — the list shows every voice on your device, best matches first.
- Set the speed (0.5x–2x) and pitch.
- Press Read aloud. Pause, resume or stop at any time.
Speech is generated by your browser's built-in speech engine. The text is not sent to GameFuntastic.
Getting the most natural voice
Voice quality depends entirely on your browser and operating system:
- Microsoft Edge on Windows includes free "Natural" voices (e.g. Microsoft Aria Online (Natural)) that sound close to human. This is the best free option. Note that "Online" voices are processed by Microsoft's speech service.
- Chrome offers "Google" voices, which are good and also online.
- Safari on Mac/iPhone uses Apple's voices; download Enhanced or Premium voices in System Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content for better quality.
- Voices without "Online" or "Natural" in the name run fully offline on your device.
Why listen instead of read?
- Proofreading — your ear catches clumsy sentences, repeated words and missing words that your eyes skip.
- Studying — hearing notes while walking or commuting.
- Accessibility — dyslexia, low vision or eye strain.
- Language learning — hearing pronunciation at a slower speed.
Saving the speech as an audio file
Browsers can play synthesised speech but don't let web pages record it. For MP3/WAV narration you can use in videos, podcasts or audiobooks:
